“The Heroes’ Hill of my childhood”

Pleasant memories of my childhood relate to family visits at the Heroes’ Hill in the city of Holon.

Four decades later I met in Rehovot – the sister of one of those heroes who fought on this hill in 1948. Her brother was among the seven MIA soldiers – Amos Daniely, who their bodies were mutilated by Arabs and paraded in Jaffa.  Only after a week they were returned, beyond recognition.

The work includes the map of Holon and symbol of the pillbox – left in the area as the battle’s memorial, above the blooming poppies.

זכרונות ילדותי הנעימים קשורים בביקורים משפחתיים ב-"תל גבורים" שבחולון .ארבע עשורים אח"כ פגשתי ברחובות את אילנה הדני, אחותו של אחד הגבורים הנעדרים מהקרב בתל א-ריש – עמוס דניאלי. בעבודה מפת העיר חולון ודימוי הפילבוקס- האנדרטה שנשארה בשטח מהקרב. מתחת הפרגים הפורחים.
