"Still Crazy After All These Years - I"
This quilt combines Crazy love with Crazy technique.
Buttons spell out on a checkerboard a part of Paul Simon's song
"STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS".
At the time when crazy quilts were popular, women's magazines spread
the idea that fabric scraps should not be thrown away but used to
create crazy quilts. To keep with this spirit, the checkerboard is
made from sweatshirt fleeces that are discard from clothing factories
in Jerusalem. Since crazy technique was popular at the turn of the
century, the printed fabric I used has advertisements intended for
women from that period. From the perfect corset substitute, to dress
shields to be worn by bicycle riders to leather dressing - all to
attract attention. The prairie points reminded me petals you pluck
saying, "Loves me, Loves me not" - it's stenciled on the quilt with
silver letters.
